A handy soft pod basket on the single-serve side keeps pods organized. Additionally, you have the option to select the ordinary or bold strength (also on the control panel). With the single-serve side, you can drop a pod into the pod holder like clockwork, eliminating the need for time-consuming scooping.

Basic daily use should be wonderfully smooth if you have some expertise with drip models in general. Its auto shutoff feature removes the worry of “did I turn it off before I left?” and it can be set to begin brewing whenever you choose.
You may also buy a permanent filter to assist extend the life of your machine if you believe you may be utilizing the drip side more frequently. Reviews and Ratings from Customers in Hamilton Beach 49980A
Many believed that the businesses had finally paid attention and provided what they had promised. No joke, it seems like this one was a true winner. It offered additional benefits, such as the warmer pads on either side that maintained the coffee at a comfortable temperature, in addition to generally meeting their expectations. Raves included time-saving features and a constant temperature.
The carafe’s top cannot be removed, so if you’re like me and are accustomed to taking it out to run it through the dishwasher, please consider this.
Several people expressed worry regarding the travel mug depicted in the image. Despite what the description claims, it is not misleading advertising.

Brew for longer and with more force. More than two minutes may be needed for a strong brew. This might not be a problem after you get used to it if you prefer your coffee strong. A few people discovered that it’s best to exercise caution and avoid overfilling the filter so as not to give the grounds the wrong impression.
Since coffee strength and weakness are subjective, it is difficult for me to assess the comments on brew weakness. While some may view it as a daring punch, others may view it as ordinary. Additionally, preparing hot tea and hot cocoa has been noted as a fulfilling activity.
Advantages
- Versatility: the ability to alternate between the conventional drip system and single-serve convenience
- A good size that won’t take up much space on the countertop
- Grounds or pods can be placed in the single-serve gateway tray.
- The striking backdrop for a bit more extra taste
- It is not necessary to tilt the carafe upside down in order to extract the coffee; it pours without leaking.
- Concern-free shut-off feature
- It can be programmed in advance.
Drawbacks
- K-cups are not compatible with this machine.
- To make sure loose grounds don’t wind up on the wrong side, you must be cautious when dispersing them.
Cost
The pricing is still around $100 as of this writing, and not much has changed! That is to say, the good news doesn’t stop at performance, portability, and compactness. Your coffee spending won’t alter much if you’re accustomed to purchasing loose grinds on a regular basis.
This also holds true for soft pods, which are fairly priced. The dirty little secret is that pods are both biodegradable and a bit more cost-effective.
Conclusion
This is one of the best types on the market for the money, in my opinion. I also thought that most of the reviews were smart and fair.
As you saw in the review, the one big problem is that it doesn’t work with K-cups. Instead, you’ll need to use soft pods, which may not be a big deal since this maker is cheap, reliable, and made to work every time.
It is a type I would think about getting if I were looking for a second brewer.
