Ben was an Assistant District Attorney, and she met him at the wedding of a friend they both had. Two years later, they got back in touch and got married in 2017.

Denise lost her husband a few days before their first anniversary party, which was sad. As he helped a woman on a boat in Jupiter, Florida, Ben slipped and hit his head. While she was grieving, she started writing about her life.

Career

Mattie is an author who just put out her first book. She started writing after her husband died, but she had no idea that her stories would touch other people. Her grief over the death of her husband led her to start writing in a diary.

At some point, she realised that her story would speak to a lot of people, which is what made her write Lemons of Friday. The book is about what happened after her husband died, and writing it has helped her deal with the grief.
